We report two novel mutations found on the promoter of the Aγ gene and summarize all common and rare determinants associated with hereditary persistence of fetal hemoglobin (HPFH) described thus far.

By approximately 6 to 12 months of age, Hb F is almost completely replaced by adult hemoglobin (Hb A; alpha2beta2).
