Clavicle fractures take the same time to heal with or without surgery. Usually, the breaks heals in around 6-8 weeks but it is fairly common that it can take up to 3 months.
Nonsurgical Treatment. If the broken ends of the bones have not shifted out of place and line up correctly, you may not need surgery. Broken collarbones can heal without surgery. Arm Support. A simple arm sling or figure-of-eight wrap is usually used for comfort immediately after the break.
Clavicle fractures in children (younger than 8 years old) may heal in four or five weeks, and clavicle fractures in adolescents may take six to eight weeks. However, fractures in adults or teenagers who have stopped growing take 10 to 12 weeks to heal and may take longer.
Surgery. You might need surgery if you have a severely displaced clavicle fracture, where the bone pieces have shifted far out of place, or if you have injuries to other tissues, like a tendon, ligament, blood vessel or nerve.

The figure-of-eight bandage will be used for 4 weeks, and every week the participants will return for checking and adjusting the immobilisations. In this way, the dominant arm can remain free and simple activities will be allowed (writing, keyboarding and other).
