Clavicle fractures take the same time to heal with or without surgery. Usually, the breaks heals in around 6-8 weeks but it is fairly common that it can take up to 3 months.
Clavicle fractures in children (younger than 8 years old) may heal in four or five weeks, and clavicle fractures in adolescents may take six to eight weeks. However, fractures in adults or teenagers who have stopped growing take 10 to 12 weeks to heal and may take longer.

Clavicle fractures take 6-12 weeks to heal. Recovery involves exercises and sling use for immobilization.
However, the most common methods are the use of a figure-of-eight strap (Fig. 1a), an arm sling (Fig. 1b), or a combination of the two [4, 7–9]. Indications for surgery include open fractures, severe displacement caused by comminution, suspicion of imminent skin lesion production by a sharp clavicle fracture edge, or neurovascular injuries.
