28 Ιουν 2024 · The Coalition Government in the 2024-25 National Budget has provided a funding of $4 million to reinstate the pension payments for pensioners that opted for a reduced pension rate following the 2011 pension reforms. The pension payment will be restored from 1 August 2024 and moving forward.
29 Ιουν 2024 · “All pensioners that reluctantly opted for a reduced pension rate will have their pension restored effective from August 1, 2024 and moving forward,” he said. “The cost of reinstatement will be fully borne by the Government, and we have agreed to provide a funding of $4m for this year.

In a statement, Rabuka said the Bill amends the Presidential Pensions Act 1994 (Act) to align the President’s term of office from 5 years to 3 years, as stated in the 2013 Constitution.

The gazette notice was authorised by the Acting Prime Minister Manoa Kamikamica and the chairperson of the Public Service Commission Luke Rokovada.
