22 Δεκ 2012 · Filson's 24 oz. Mackinaw wool button vests are perfect for layering inside leather jackets for additional warmth on cold days. The problem with wool sweaters is pushing bulky arms through jacket sleeves - not a problem with vests. I agree that vests are best collarless in this situation.

21 Μαρ 2023 · Filson used to have numbered sizes with regular and tall options, but has switched to alpha sizing. These sizes aren’t consistent either. My Filson western vest in medium fits like a 40, whereas my mackinaw (packer) in medium has sleeves way longer than my old 40 Tall Filson stuff.
The wool itself is excellent, and I use my plain vest as mid layer a big part of the winter, it's warm and tough and really comfortable - for me it has been a good purchase. The western vest costs a lot more, and the difference is styling and pocket layout, so whether it's worth the price difference is very much a matter of opinion.
22 Δεκ 2012 · A Western Vest is priced at $145, but the shipping would be $130 on top. That is very excessive for such a small, light parcel. I have shipped solid bodied guitars weighing 10 times as much (and with a value 15 times as much) for under $100, including insurance.
Filson Vest dilemma. Long time lurker first time poster. I've been meaning to get Filson vest for some time. I only intend to wear them casually so more to do with style over form. I'm tossing between these 2.
The last time I called them, they told me that they didn't have anymore in stock and would give me a credit for the lowest price it sold for. Maybe you should call them back and try to talk to someone else.
