25 Ιουλ 2023 · I just purchased a 1980-1988 Papa Bear. The door gasket is missing. This heater has the cathedral door. It looks like it takes a 3/4 inch gasket. Can anyone tell me if that is correct?
11 Μαΐ 2012 · The first airtight steel plate stove was welded together October 1973, and simply called “The Fisher Stove”. It was the Papa Bear size. Built with a steel plate door and side vented flue to sit across a blocked off fireplace, it was invented to heat Bob and Carol Fisher’s home.
23 Ιαν 2009 · I just got a great old Fisher Mama Bear (single door) wood stove to put in the house. I'm replacing some fire brick and want to install a new gasket rope around the door. I bought 1/2" carbon impregnated fiberglass gasket rope and, when installed, I can't close the door properly.
You will greatly improve performance with a baffle plate. 5/16 thick is the best thickness, 3/8 is acceptable for the single door stoves. Wider double doors should be 5/16. Only the double door stoves after 1980 had factory baffle installed to reduce smoke for upcoming EPA regulations.
