The Flordacrest Peach Tree (Prunus persica 'FlordaCrest') is a deciduous fruiting tree that produces large amounts of extremely flavorful medium-sized peaches great for use in canning or eating off the tree. The skin is a dark yellow to light red blush with a yellow flesh.
Reaching a mature height of 15-25 feet, this tree is an ideal choice for medium-sized gardens and adapts well to various soil types. Its robust nature and excellent disease resistance make it a favorite among both novice and experienced gardeners.
One model in particular that defines a chill unit as 1 hour below 45°F (7°C), but above 32°F (0°C) works well for determining ranges of accumulation in low-chill peaches. The accumulation over a defined period (usually November–January in Florida) is termed chill unit accumulation.
