7 Μαρ 2022 · Outside my house in FL, I frequently see very large leatherleaf slugs (Leidyula floridana) before rainstorms. They move around in my garden and eat fallen hibiscus flowers at night. They seem very interesting to keep in captivity, but I can’t seem to find any information on the subject.

29 Απρ 2020 · Florida leatherleaf slugs (Leidyula floridana), like other terrestrial slugs, eat fungi, decaying plant matter, and sometimes live plants. They are generally active in damp, dark areas because they need to keep their bodies moist.
Hosts of Florida Leatherleaf. An exact host list is not known, but it is a pest of pest of potatoes in Cuba and beans, tomatoes, and ornamental plants in some areas. Not known to cause economic damage in Florida.
Flower and foliage plants suffer the most damage in Florida, but this slug attacks many different plants. A large species known as Florida leatherleaf slug, Leidyula floridana (Leidy, 1851) also inflicts injury to plants though this species usually is not abundant.
Sunlight was shining through it, casting prismatic effects in multiple colors. Even with glass-cleaner liquid, slug slime does not wash off easily and initially seems to make more of a mess. I could imagine seeing a slightly smaller version of this selling as an artistic wall-hanging.
