Python hunting in Florida is open to anyone ready to take on the challenge of handling these massive snakes. Legal hunting is permitted year-round on private land and on 32 designated Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) areas without requiring a specific permit or hunting license.
Prior to Registration, participants must read and understand all rules, complete the Required Online Training and pass the quiz with a score of at least 85%. Read the General Competition Rules for the Florida Python Challenge™.
The Florida Python Challenge ™ is an exciting conservation effort which helps protect the rare Everglades habitat and the animals that live there from these invasive, nonnative snakes. Learn more about opportunities to remove pythons year-round outside of the ten-day Florida Python Challenge ™.
Python Patrol is a no-cost training program that aims to create a network of individuals throughout south Florida who know how to identify Burmese pythons, and report sightings, as well as search for, safely capture and humanely kill these invasive constrictors.
