11 Οκτ 2024 · Fly fishing the Kern River is usually a very enjoyable and successful adventure. Check back often as we update the Kern River fishing report weekly. The South Fork of the Kern River also drains from the high Sierra Nevada Mountains and flows through the Ino National Forest.
Major destructive flooding occurred and rivers were reshaped, scoured river bottoms and dumped huge loads of silt into Lake Isabella and the inlet end of the lake that the Kern River feeds. Sadly, at last count over a dozen drownings occurred in 2023.

Kern River Fly Fishing Report – Egg patterns (Kern Candy) are working really well along with stoneflies and larger beaded Hare’s Ear. Size 16-18 seems to be the ticket. Stoneflies are emerging and Yellow Sallies and Caddis Flies are beginning to hatch. Water is clear and warming up more every day.
