Anyone approved to receive cash assistance or SNAP (Food Stamps) benefits will be issued an Illinois Link card. The Illinois Link card is a plastic card that looks and works like a debit card. If you are eligible for cash and SNAP benefits, you will access both with the same card.
When you are approved to receive SNAP, other food assistance or cash assistance, you will be mailed your first Illinois Link card. When you receive it, you must select your first PIN. Either call the Illinois Link Help Line at 1-800-678-LINK (5465), or go to the Illinois Link Card Website .
Benefits are provided on a "Link" card. To get a Link card, follow the steps below. Fill out your Application for Food Stamps, Cash, or Medical Assistance online. You can also print out a copy of the application or fill one out at your local Department of Human Services (DHS) office.
