22 Ιουν 2022 · There are 10 constructors in the 2022 Formula 1 season, four of which build their own engines. The other six constructors who are customer teams. The customer teams are the constructors who buy their engines from another team rather than building their own.
To make the chart more readable and simplify my work, I merged engine suppliers where possible: rebadged (such as TAG) and refurbished (such as Petronas, Mecachrome) are shown as the original manufacturer. This also applies to next year 'Red Bull' engines, which I count as Honda engines. 28.
10 Οκτ 2017 · In modern Formula One, all teams construct their own chassis and own the intellectual rights to them; but while some teams also construct their own engines, others simply buy them instead.
Before this time, constructors were free to sell their chassis to as many other teams as they liked. Brabham and Lotus chassis were used extensively by other teams during the 1960s and 1970s and several quite competitive privateer teams never built their own chassis.
