Catholic piety assigns an angel to everyone to protect and to lead him or her to heavenly glory. As warrant for “Guardian Angels,” today’s gospel is cited.

The Gospel of Mark sees him as learning of his Lordship at his baptism, the account of which we just heard. Mark indicates that Jesus alone sees the Holy Spirit descending from heaven.

22 Ιουν 2020 · Fr. Carmen Mele, O.P.: Today's Homilette. St. Luke, the author of the “third gospel,” also wrote the Acts of the Apostles. He interrelates both works in several ways. Perhaps most importantly, in Acts Luke writes about how the Gospel of Jesus Christ streams from Jerusalem throughout the world. Today’s gospel passage anticipates this movement.
