5-Point Scales: Before you implement a 5-Point scale strategy, it’s important to do preparation ahead of time. The first step is to determine what is the situation your student is struggling with. Next, identify the skill or concept that must be taught to help them with that situation.
This tool featuring happy to sad or mad faces is called a 5 Point Scale. Its purpose is to help children and adults learn how to recognize when they are starting to feel anxious, upset or mad and how to use strategies to calm down that work for them.
