When I launch I get the error that I cannot load the mod with the shareware version of Doom. I don't have a copy of the shareware version of Doom and instead have the full IWAD for Ultimate Doom for DOS in my GZDoom folder.

If downloading the shareware version, unzip it using PKUNZIP, run the installer program, and install shareware Doom to your hard drive. If you manage to get the proper sound and video drivers installed in NT 3.5x, you will be able to play Doom using a source port .

If you do not have any of the Doom games, you can download the free shareware episode here. If you downloaded the shareware episode, you should now have a file called doom95.zip. Right-click on the file and extract its contents into a folder, e.g. Doom95. Download latest Chocolate Doom version here.

Obviously you are not actually using the wads from your steam folder when you load the shareware version instead. Just delete the shareware wad, you don't need it when you got the full versio of the games anyway. It's not ZDL, but GZDoom that blocks mods from loading when you use the shareware wad. 1.
