Another year, and one of Freedoom's biggest updates has arrived! One of the major developments we've had is the elimination of Boom as the target engine for game support. While we are aiming for an eventual compatibility with Vanilla Doom, Freedoom should presently run on any limit-removing engine, which is nearly all of them. Lots of new music.
The Freedoom project aims to provide all the content needed to form a complete, entirely free/libre game for the Doom engine. It is designed to be compatible with most custom levels, music, graphics and other modifications (“mods”) made for the original Doom games by Doom fans and artists over the decades.
Downloadable copy of the Editing Reference for offline viewing. This has only been updated for ZDoom 1.22. For ZDoom features added since then, you should consult the wiki documentation instead.
Go and download the shareware versions here, you bastard! This section also contains some free versions for non-DOS platforms, as well as some pre-release versions. A special thanks to Lee Killough and others for their attempts to dig up these historic versions!

13 Οκτ 1996 · This is the latest and FINAL version of DOOM, version 1.9. This version has various bug fixes, includes the new DM.EXE (DeathManager) shell, the new DWANGO.EXE app, rewritten SETUP.EXE and slightly modified SERSETUP and IPXSETUP programs.
Unpacked and ready-to-play versions of all the id Tech 1 shareware or demo versions. This repository was born out of a request to include downgrade patches in iwad-patches, but it’s probably even easier to just have directories to copy to whatever DOS environment you want, or use the IWADs.
