Fun with Haiku. A haiku (pronounced “hi-koo”) is a three-line poem, often about a season or nature. It has rules for the number of syllables on each line. Usually, the last line makes an observation. Haiku Rules. Example. Line 1: Five syllables Line 2: Seven syllables Line 3: Five syllables. Winter is coming. Snow will be arriving soon.

Haiku Starter. Haiku is a form of Japanese poetry. Typically, haikus are written about nature, but they can be about any topic. Haikus have a very specific syllable structure. The first line of every haiku has 5 syllables, the second line has 7 syllables, and the last line has 5 syllables.
