Almost every show I've worked with usine timecode to tracks is using either ableton or protools as a playback (controlled from stage or sidestage), and that sends timecode out to the various consoles for lighting, audio, and video cues.
It seems to be rather hard to find a freeware (or cheap) software that supports either SMPTE or MIDI Timecode (this would make it easy to sync to the playback software), lets me design my Lightshow virtually and then output the DMX data in sync.
The free DMXControl is developed by the registered association DMXControl Projects e.V. The association supports all enthusiasts with software, hardware and literature for show light control and event technology.
