Does PDE provide any free Act 48 course for Pennsylvania-certified educators? The Standards Aligned System (SAS) provides free Act 48 eligible courses. To access these course, create a free login, and click on "My SAS Tools" in the upper right corner of the site.
Meeting the Act 48 requirement every five years with acceptable professional education courses or activities will maintain the educator's active status for any and all certificates held by the educator. If PIL/Act 45 hours are required, exceptions may apply. Please see the PIL/Act 45 FAQ.
Members can earn Act 48 hours (PSEA is an approved Act 48 provider by PDE) and Chapter 14 verification to submit for district consideration toward the fulfillment of annual hours for HQT. PEARL: PSEA’s hub for online learning programs.
The first allows for the carryover of Act 48 hours from one compliance period to another. The second extends every certificate holder’s compliance period by one year.

Act 48 requires the satisfactory completion of continuing professional education every five years. These requirements can be met by completing one of these options: 6 credits of collegiate study (One credit is equivalent to 30 hours in the classroom.)
