FREN 101: SYLLABUS. CONTENT & OBJECTIVES. FREN 101 is a beginners' French course, of a “blended” and “enriched” approach. The objective of the course is the acquisition of basic comprehension, communication, and writing skills.
FREN 101 is the first of a pair of beginners’ courses—101 and 102—aligned with level A1 objectives of the Common European Framework of Reference: basic vocabulary, the rudiments of grammar, and familiarization with cultures of the French-speaking world.
This course will provide students with a fundamental understanding of the French language in several core competencies. Specifically, the five areas of assessment are: listening, reading, spoken interaction, spoken production, and writing.
