U.S. State Plane Zones (NAD 1983) represents the State Plane Coordinate System (SPCS) zones for the 1983 North American Datum in the United States.
In the State Plane Coordinate System, each state has its own zone (s). The number of zones in a state is determined by the area the state covers, and ranges from one for a small state such as Rhode Island to as many as seven, as we have in California. Note: Zone 7 applies to NAD 27 only.
