The beta (β) Fructose molecule - rotatable in 3 dimensions. Fructose (fruit sugar) is a monosaccharide - formula C 6 H 12 O 6. It shares the same empirical formula with other 6-carbon (hexose) sugars such as glucose and galactose.
Calculations. MEP surface lucent/opaque: calculates and projects molecular electrostatic potential on a translucent or opaque van der Waals surface. Charge: calculates and projects atomic charge as text label and white to atom color gradient. Bond dipoles: calculates and draws individual bond dipoles.
15 Ιαν 2023 · When studying this section, use your molecular model set to assist you in visualizing the structures of the compounds that are discussed. It is important that you be able to determine whether two apparently different Fischer projections represent two different structures or one single structure.
Build a Molecule Activity Sheet 1 Learning Goals: 1. Describe the difference between a molecule name and a chemical formula. 2. Distinguish between the coefficient and subscript in a chemical formula. 3. Use pictorial representations of molecules to generate chemical formulas. Open Play
Models will be used to visualize simple sugars, emphasizing the characteristic carbon-hydrogen-oxygen bonds and the aromatic structure in solution. The monosaccharides will be joined to create a disaccharide, then dis- accharides bonded to show polysaccharides. Materials needed per group: 1 Molecular models packet containing: 12 Black, Carbon atoms
Although fructose is a hexose (6 carbon sugar), it generally exists as a 5-member hemiketal ring (a furanose). This structure is responsible for the long metabolic pathway and high reactivity compared to glucose (See below structure -note: hydrogens not shown)
