Overview of the Ontario Review Board. The Ontario Review Board is a unique tribunal that, with its counterparts, forms a critical component of the Canadian justice system. While it operates within the province of Ontario, the Ontario Review Board is not governed by provincial legislation, but by federal legislation.
The Ontario Review Board (ORB) reviews or determines Dispositions concerning individuals Unfit to Stand Trial and those found Not Criminally Responsible (NCR) on account of mental illness. ORB members are appointed by the Ontario Lieutenant Governor and include judges, lawyers, psychiatrists, psychologists and representatives from the public.
