A pressure gauge is a technique of measuring or estimating fluid, gas, water, or intensity of steam in a pressure-powered machine giving assurance regarding leaks or pressure changes that would influence the performance of the system.
Pressure readings from such gauges are called gauge pressure, which is the pressure relative to the atmospheric pressure. When the pressure inside the tank is greater than atmospheric pressure, the gauge reports a positive value.
Pressure gages (Section 6.3.5) are placed in the mud-delivery and return lines to measure the high-frequency pressure variations caused by acoustic waves propagating in the fluid. These instruments measure guided waves propagating through the drilling mud.
The pressure gauge should be placed to enable the gas cylinder pressure to be read conveniently by the user. The pressure gauge should also incorporate a way to indicate an adequate warning period. This will vary according to user requirements.
Whether it's to monitor the pressure in a gas cylinder, maintain the correct air pressure in car tyres or to control the pressure in HVAC systems, you will find pressure gauges serving vital operational functions everywhere.

Gauge pressure is the pressure relative to atmospheric pressure. Absolute pressure is the sum of gauge pressure and atmospheric pressure. Aneroid gauge measures pressure using a bellows-and-spring arrangement connected to the pointer of a calibrated scale.
