[1] [2] Chef Garrett Benedict opened the restaurant in the Slabtown area of northwest Portland's Northwest District in 2019. Described as a "reverse steakhouse", G-Love has a vegetable-focused menu and has garnered a positive reception.

I’m a Chef. It would be natural and obvious for me to always put the food first, for my fulfillment to come from cooking, but that’s not the case. It’s the people, it’s the incredibly talented and hardworking teams at G-Love and The Love Shack, it’s all of you, our amazing and wonderful guests!
