With both beach and bay sides, Galveston Island State Park offers activities for every coast lover. You can swim, fish, picnic, bird watch, hike, mountain bike, paddle, camp, geocache , study nature or just relax!
Galveston Island State Park, located on the western part of the Island, protects 2,000 acres of the upper Gulf Coast barrier island ecosystem. Visitors may spot raccoons, armadillos, marsh rabbits, birds, and more in the park’s prairies, wetlands, and beaches.
To obtain a beach wheelchair: Visit any Park Board operated beach park (East Beach, Stewart Beach, or Dellanera RV Park) Ask the gate attendant for a beach wheelchair. Provide a driver’s license to be held until the return of the chair. Beach wheelchairs are offered first-come-first-served, with no reservations or fees required.
6 Ιαν 2023 · The beach side of Galveston Island State Park underwent an extensive redevelopment project from 2019 to 2022 with new amenities and improved grounds. The star of the show is still the wide sandy beach, where visitors can go swimming, build sandcastles, picnic, and more.
