20 Αυγ 2023 · One prevalent scam to watch out for is the “Facebook Account Recovery Code” phishing email. This deceptive email poses as an urgent notice from Facebook asking you to provide an account recovery code to secure your account from unauthorized access.
After an hour he claimed to have "cleared the account" and provided a 6 digit code and link to access the account. The link was dead. That was followed by a request for another $100 to "activate" the link.

Go in to your Facebook settings and add a two-factor authentication. That way Facebook will require a code that is sent to your cell phone in order to gain access to your Facebook account. This way you don’t have to continually change your password. These are only “attempts” of someone trying to sign in.

Over the past 24 hours I've received three unprompted account recovery code emails from Facebook. They appear to be legit from the security@facebookmail.com email address but I haven't clicked any links.
