Deleting old accounts is a good thing for security purposes. If it only consists of your car navigation stuff I would just let it go. If it's your new account connected to it that's a problem though and you'd have to contact them to sort it out.
If you're worried it may be a scam I'd suggest calling them using the number on their site to supply the information. Also, what email address did they use? If it was actually from them it would come from an @garmin.com address or something similar.
