The Illinois GED comprises four subjects: Mathematical Reasoning, Reasoning Through Language Arts, Social Studies, and Science. The GED® exam is a computer-based HSE exam with four subject areas: reasoning through language arts (RLA), mathematical reasoning, science, and social studies. The full battery of the exam (all four subject areas) takes about 7.5 hours to complete. The full cost of the GED® exam in Illinois is $120; each individual subtest has a cost of $30.
Anyone who completed and passed an ICCB-approved State of Illinois High School Exam (GED® or HiSET®) based on the State of Illinois requirements between February 1, 2021, and June 30, 2022, will be issued a State of Illinois High School Diploma.
