Although there are many other knife designs that I would personally choose over the Gerber Prodigy for use as a dedicated survival knife, the Prodigy is not actually a bad choice- it is just not a particularly good choice.
26 Ιαν 2012 · Anyone who reads my reviews knows Im hard on gear, and these saw some rough use with me. The gerber prodigy is full-length tang, not full-width tang. Still just as strong, if you look, you can see the tangs edges where the handle meets are rounded, so no pressure points.
23 Οκτ 2016 · The Prodigy had some shortcomings and was replaced by the Strongarm. I have a Strongarm and I am very impressed with it. It's like an old-school Gerber, 420 HC and made in the USA. The Strongarm sheath kicks butt too.

Gerber advertises this knife on their website for $73, and I got my sample for $37.97 with free shipping from Amazon.com. Wait, that can’t be? Yep, it was $37.97 with free shipping!
