23 Σεπ 2024 · According to specialized German media, the German Army (Heer) will have 10 additional artillery battalions by 2035. This expansion will require the recruitment of more than 6,000 soldiers. By then, the German Army is expected to have 289 self-propelled howitzers and 76 multiple rocket launchers.
The order is from 2021, and it intends to equip the infantry and all dismounted fighting forces, it is part of the IdZ program.

The artillery is a combat support branch of the German Army. Its artillery units support the combat forces with long-range artillery fire. The armoured self-propelled Panzerhaubitze 2000 howitzer and MARS Mittleres Artillerieraketensystem II rocket launcher are their primary weapon systems.
