From 1910 to 1913 he collaborated with Koffka and Wertheimer on what would become the foundations for the Gestalt Theory. From 1913 to 1920 he was director at a research station in Canary Islands where he studied animal behavior. In 1925, Kohler was a visiting professor at Clark University in Worcester, Massachusetts.
