administration in Ghana introduced formal farmer organizations in the form of cooperatives to improve the quality and marketing of cocoa as well as provide loan facilities to farmers (deGraft- Johnson 1958; Wanyama et al. 2008).
The Agricultural Co-operatives are made up of the Ghana Co-operative Agriculture Producers and Marketing Association Ltd. and Ghana Co-operative Marketing Association as well as Sikapa Co-operative Multipurpose Association Limited.
Section 2 outlines the review of agricultural cooperatives and irrigation in Ghana. Section 3 looks at the methodological approach. In section 4, the results from the data analysis are presented and discussed, while section 5 presents a conclusion and policy implications.
The Ghana Agriculture and Agribusiness Platform (GhAAP) is an integrated and interoperable web-based platform that provides agribusiness value chain actors with information, insights, inputs, agronomic practices, markets and other resources to enhance coordination, transparency, interaction, tracking, monitoring and reporting in real-time.
Overall, findings suggest that there is currently a strong demand for cocoa co-operatives in Ghana, both by farmers who long for accessible agricultural services, and by institutional and value chain actors seeking optimal ways to reach and engage with farmers.
