A tear of the labrum below the middle of the glenoid socket that also involves the inferior glenohumeral ligament is called a Bankart lesion. Tears of the glenoid labrum often occur with other shoulder injuries, such as a dislocated shoulder (full or partial dislocation). Signs and symptoms It is difficult to diagnose a tear in the glenoid ...
Tears can be located either above (superior) or below (inferior) the middle of the glenoid. A SLAP lesion (superior labrum, anterior [front] to posterior [back]) is a tear of the labrum above the middle of the glenoid that may also involve the biceps tendon.
Repair of Type II SLAP Lesion1: Generally the superior labrum should be reattached to the glenoid and the biceps anchor stabilized. Overhead-throwing athletes with this lesion often present with the biceps tendon detached from the glenoid rim. Peel-back lesions are also commonly seen.
A superior labrum anterior and posterior (SLAP) tear involves a tear in the 10 o’clock to 2 o’clock positions on the glenoid and frequently involves the LHBT. A SLAP tear can be caused by an acute injury such as a fall onto an outstretched arm, a shoulder dislocation or a motor vehicle accident or it may be due to repetitive overhead activities.
9 Δεκ 2016 · Arthroscopic repair of the circumferential 360° labral tear has been shown to successfully re-establish stability and decrease shoulder pain, allowing a return to preinjury activity in most patients. 1 This lesion is typically associated with a traumatic insult, resulting in subsequent instability and pain.
Superior Labrum Repair Protocol - SLAP. Stage I (0-4 weeks): Key Goals: Protect the newly repaired shoulder. Allow for decreased inflammation and healing. Maintain elbow, wrist and hand function. Maintain scapular control. Immobilizer use: The immobilizer will be placed on patient’s shoulder in surgery.
Anterior and Posterior Labral Repair Protocol. This rehabilitation protocol has been developed for the patient following an arthroscopic Labral repair procedure. The protocol is divided into phases. Each phase is adaptable based on the individual and special circumstances.
