The UDL Guidelines are a tool used in the implementation of Universal Design for Learning, a framework to improve and optimize teaching and learning for all people based on scientific insights into how humans learn.
Version 2.2 was released in 2018 as part of the launch of CAST’s UDL Guidelines website, a comprehensive resource dedicated to sharing information about the UDL Guidelines. Several structural changes were made to the graphic organizer to better support educators and other practitioners who were new to UDL.

Based on scientific insights into how humans learn, UDL challenges educators and families to design meaningful and challenging learning opportunities that are accessible to all and inclusive of all.

Universal Design for Learning (UDL) is a curriculum design, development, and delivery framework used to create equitable, inclusive, and accessible learning environments. UDL assumes all learning environments are diverse and that all learners have variable learning needs.
