Per diem is a set allowance for lodging, meal and incidental costs incurred while on official government travel. Calculation of travel per diem rates within the Federal government is a shared responsibility of the General Services Administration (GSA) , the Department of State (DoS) , and the Defense Travel Management Office (DTMO).
25 Ιαν 2024 · DoS sets the per diem rates for foreign locations. Rates are updated at the beginning of each month. DTMO prescribes rates for non-foreign locations overseas (also referred to as OCONUS locations, which includes Alaska, Hawaii, Guam, Puerto Rico, etc.).
The lodging per-diem rate of $261.00 is intended to cover the costs of one night's lodging at a hotel in District of Columbia, based on the average daily rate in the local lodging industry. Many hotels and motels offer business travellers rooms at exactly the local per-diem rate.
Per Diem rates are the amounts each traveler is allowed to spend for lodging, meals, and incidentals (M&IE) while on official travel. Per Diem is not authorized for local travel (within 50 miles of duty location).
28 Σεπ 2024 · Per diem rates. GSA establishes the rates that federal agencies use to reimburse their employees for lodging and meals and incidental expenses incurred while on official travel within the continental United States (CONUS). A standard rate applies to most of CONUS.
Your TDY location determines your maximum per diem reimbursement rate. If you arrive at your lodging facility after 12 midnight, you claim lodging cost for the preceding calendar day. If no lodging is required, the applicable M&IE reimbursement rate is the rate for the TDY location. (See § 301-11.102.)
