Found on a wide range of plants (too many to mention), gray mold (Botrytis cinerea) is a fungal disease that travels quickly through gardens, especially during damp, cool to mild weather. Disease symptoms appear as grayish colored soft, mushy spots on leaves, stems, flowers and on produce.
This mold causes serious plant infections such as onion neck rot. It is also associated with gray mold on seedlings as well as apple rot. The symptoms of the disease are rot, blight, wilting, and dark spots on the infected plant parts.

You may see the following symptoms: Under humid conditions fuzzy grey-brown mould grows on decaying buds, leaves, flowers or fruit; If humidity is low, infections may be contained within discrete spots, but if it is high they can spread rapidly; Above-ground parts of many plants, particularly buds and flowers, shrivel and die

Plants and fruits become shriveled with hardened black fungal filaments located beneath the rotted areas.
