9 Φεβ 2015 · The first community of Greeks settled in the newly acquired English territory of Florida in 1768. This is five years after the Florida territory was acquired by England in exchange for Cuba at the Peace of Paris 1763 ending the Seven Years War.

The Florida Historical Map Collection is one of the treasures of the P.K. Yonge Library of Florida History and contains more than 2300 renderings of Florida dating from the mid-1500s to the twentieth century. The earliest original printed map in the collection is Girolamo Ruscelli’s Nueva hispania tabula nova, [Venice, 1561].

Collection M75-103: Maps of Florida, 1829-1888. The maps in this collection represent the state of Florida or parts of it. Four maps cover the whole state in four separate years: 1834, 1837, 1846, and 1855. Other maps are sectional, representing East Florida (1840), South Florida (1856, 1888).
