Greece, adhering to the generally recognised rules of international law, pursues the strengthening of peace and of justice, and the fostering of friendly relations between peoples and States.
During these years the Constitution of 1975 witnessed three revisions. The first (in 1986), which took place eleven years after its entry into force, was limited, as it focused on the institution of the President of the Republic, whose powers as a regulator of government it significantly limited.
The resulting constitution of 1975 was essentially an entirely new constitution, especially so since it incorporated the outcome of the 1974 plebiscite that established the republic in the place of constitutional monarchy. Nevertheless, it was officially deemed a revision of the 1952 one.
