GUINEA PIG CARE Guinea pigs make endearing pets especially if well socialized. Being a prey species it is important to handle them gently so as not to frighten them. It is also important to keep them in a secure enclosure with plenty of places to hide so that they feel safe.

Students will learn how to do these jobs through modelling (the teacher will teach the first student, who will then model for the next student until all students have learned how to care for the guinea pigs.

26 Ιαν 2019 · While guinea pigs are relatively easy to care for, there are a few things teachers need to let their student’s know about these animals if they’re going to keep them in the classroom: Constantly Eat. Guinea pigs constantly eat, so they produce frequent fecal pellets.
Guinea pigs are prey species and require bolt-holes (such as boxes or plastic pipes), with at least one per animal, to allow escape from intra-specific aggression. The enclosure should be predator proof. Ideally, it should also be protected from wild birds and their droppings, which may transmit Yersinia and Salmonella species.
