  1. Koli National Park only has one walking trail with winter maintenance – the Kylän polku Winter Trail. However, you can often also walk along the hard-trodden paths of the most popular summer trails during the winter. Please note that the shortest route to Ukko-Koli in winter differs from the summer trail.

  4. Archipelago Trail is an excellent cycling destination. Photo: Juho Kuva. Summer months are the best and only time you can drive the Archipelago Trail in its entirety. All the ferries along the route are in daily service only from the beginning of May until the end of August.

  5. The Gulf of Finland (Estonian: Soome laht; Finnish: Suomenlahti; Russian: Фи́нский зали́в; Swedish: Finska viken) is the easternmost arm of the Baltic Sea. It extends between Finland to the north and Estonia to the south, to Saint Petersburg in Russia to the east, where the river Neva drains into it.

Go fishing, kayaking or white-water rafting on the mighty Kymi River that flows from the lakes in Middle Finland to the sea at the Eastern Gulf of Finland with an amazing web of streams, forks and estuaries. In Valkmusa National Park you will feel like you have just arrived in the wilderness of Lapland.
