Research results find that there are three aspects of providing shariah-compliant hotel services which should be emphasized, which are; the aspect of halal food preparation, the Islamic physical design of the hotel and Islamic modest dressing of hospitality staff.
But to what extent Malaysian hotels are aware to halal issue? Hotel operators should get halal certification to erase doubts among Muslims. Datuk Wan Mohammad Sheikh Abdul Aziz (2009), Director General of Malaysian Islamic Development Department (JAKIM) outlined that the hotel operators only apply to Jakim for halal certificates but comply by them.

Malaysian hoteliers refer to three standards when offering Muslim friendly hotel services, which are namely the MS 2610: 2015 Muslim Friendly Hospitality Services Requirements, Crescent Rating Standard and Salam Standard.
