Cydalima perspectalis or the box tree moth is a species of moth of the family Crambidae, first described by Francis Walker, the English entomologist, in 1859.

14 Σεπ 2023 · The life cycle of the Box Tree Moth consists of four stages: egg, larva, pupa, and adult. Upon hatching, the larvae, commonly known as caterpillars, emerge and begin feeding on the Boxwood leaves. The caterpillars are pale green with black dots and have a distinctive black head .
Box tree caterpillars pupate for two weeks before emerging as moths with a 4cm wingspan, either white with brown tips or fully brown. 2-3 days later, female box tree moths lay their eggs. The entire lifecycle can be repeated three to four times a year.
