CCB is the home for the undergraduate concentration of Chemistry. In addition to Chemistry, CCB Faculty also teach and support student research in the undergradaute concentrations of Chemistry & Physics, and Chemical & Physical Biology. Ph.D. candidates must pass four advanced* courses in chemistry and/or related fields (e.g. biochemistry, physics, etc.) with average grades of B or higher. Grades of B- will count as a pass if balanced by a B+ or better on a one-for-one basis. Grades of C+ or below will not count.

This course introduces fundamental concepts in chemistry and biology. Topics in chemistry include stoichiometry, acids and bases, aqueous solutions, gases, thermochemistry, electrons in atoms, and chemical bonding.
Chem/Phys requires four courses in chemistry and four courses in physics, which makes it easy for both Chemistry and Physics students to switch into Chem/Phys.
28 Αυγ 2024 · This course is an introduction to organic chemistry with an emphasis on structure and bonding, reaction mechanisms, stereochemistry, and chemical reactivity. Many of the major classes of organic compounds are covered, including alkenes, alkyl halides, alcohols, aldehydes, ketones, and carboxylic acid derivatives.
