Haunted Castle!!! The game mechanics are basically the same, though there are no candles to whip, and the few hearts you actually do find come from dead enemies. Special weapons are scarce too, but they remain fundamentally different from the usual crowd.

In Japan, the game is known as Akumajō Dracula, so besides the different name it gained in the west, Haunted Castle is a game from the Castlevania saga, and also a remake of the first Castlevania (as are Vampire Killer, Super Castlevania IV and Castlevania Chronicles).

23 Οκτ 2023 · Haunted Castle is one of the forgotten Castlevania titles, released for arcades without any explicit connection to the series (at least in America and Europe). It's also hella hard. Good music, though.
