Haunted Castle!!! The game mechanics are basically the same, though there are no candles to whip, and the few hearts you actually do find come from dead enemies. Special weapons are scarce too, but they remain fundamentally different from the usual crowd.

Haunted Castle, known in Japan as Akumajō Dracula (悪魔城ドラキュラ, Akumajō Dorakyura?, lit. "Demon Castle Dracula"), is an action-adventure platform game produced for arcades and part of the Castlevania series. It was released in February 22, 1988 in Japan, and on September 22, 1988 in North America.
Level 1: Graveyard in the Woods. Simon begins his quest fighting his way through a cursed graveyard. The everpresent "town to be terrored" is visible in the background. Speaking of backgrounds, they are not to be ignored! All throughout the backgrounds and foregrounds will play a part in the game.
