As the story goes, during World War II, a young wife was staying in room 505 while her husband was overseas. Every day, she'd climb the tower and look for his ship. One day, she mistakenly got word that his ship had been sunk and he had lost his life.
Room #501 is supposedly one of the most haunted rooms in the hotel. The staff know the lovelorn lady is around when they feel a sudden cold breeze, hear doors slamming, and when televisions or lights are turned on or off without explanation.

Hotel Galvez has 226 rooms, and the story of the Ghost Bride centers around room 501. The story goes that a beautiful young woman who was in love with a sailor would go up to room 501 and then look out at the sea from a hatch in the hotel roof, waiting for her lover's return.
