We found weak evidence of association between unprocessed red meat consumption and colorectal cancer, breast cancer, type 2 diabetes and ischemic heart disease. Moreover, we found no evidence of an association between unprocessed red meat and ischemic stroke or hemorrhagic stroke.

6 Σεπ 2016 · Concerns regarding health hazards related to high red meat intake and especially processed red meat intake, both of which have been increasing during recent decades, have led to new nutrition recommendations and new dietary guidelines proposing decreased consumption of red and processed meat.
Reductions in processed meat consumption could result in substantial health co-benefits in the USA by reducing the incidence of type 2 diabetes, cardiovascular disease, colorectal cancer, and mortality. More research is needed to increase certainty in estimated effects of reducing unprocessed red meat consumption.
In conclusion, moderate consumption of lean red meat as part of a balanced diet is unlikely to increase risk for CVD or colon cancer, but may positively influence nutrient intakes and fatty acid profiles, thereby impacting positively on long-term health.
