Eardrum repair refers to the surgical closure of a perforated tympanic membrane (eardrum hole). This can be a small repair (paper patch or myringoplasty) or a bigger repair (tympanoplasty). Eardrum perforations result from chronic infection, trauma, or after ear tubes.
