Hedingham Castle is a large, probably late C11 ringwork castle surviving as upstanding, earthwork and buried remains. It sits on a natural spur of land overlooking the northern bank of the River Colne. Within the castle mound, or ringwork, which is located on the tip of the spur, is a mid-C12 stone tower Keep (listed at Grade I).
